REPLACE YOUR RUSTY MAILBOX Good news! May is “Replace Your Rusty Mailbox Month.” Just send an email to bhvclerk@bartonhillsvillage.org or call 734-222-5209 to be placed on the schedule. The BHV staff will install a brand new, village-approved mailbox, and send you an invoice for the $45 box cost when the installation is complete. Keep BHV looking beautiful! Thank you.
SLOW DOWN ON UNDERDOWN!! Underdown Road is a convenient connection between Whitmore Lake Road and Barton Shore Drive, but it is also narrow, steep, and home to residents with kids and pets. As with all BHV roads, please obey the posted speed limits and be alert to sudden surprises in the roadways. Pedestrians: Do your part too, so everyone is safe.
RECYCLING REMINDER Recycled items must be clean! Rinse out those plastic take-out containers, yogurt cups and milk jugs. Make sure there is no peanut butter at the bottom of the jar, no swallow of liquid left in the bottle, no cheese stuck to the pizza box. The smallest amount of food can contaminate the whole bin. Rinse/dry containers and remove bottle lids. Also, corrugated cardboard must be clean and dry, and empty of all contents including packing. Thanks for your help in making our recycling program successful.
GARLIC MUSTARD It’s prime time to pull Garlic Mustard while the tall white flower stems are easily visible. This aggressive, invasive plant spreads quickly via tiny seeds that remain viable in soil for up to five years. Leave the plants on the roadway shoulder to be picked up by the BHV staff or put them in plastic bags and put them in your trash.
WATER SPRINKLERS IN THE RAIN??? Please don’t let your irrigation system run wild without you. If your system doesn’t have a moisture sensor, be the one in control so your sprinklers aren’t wasting water. Your lawn and plants will be healthier, your mower won’t sink in the sod, and your water bill won’t break the bank. Thanks for using our water resources wisely.
IN SYMPATHY Deepest sympathy to the family of Ralph (Rob) Boehnke, a long-time resident who passed away recently.
