ROADS UPDATE We are pleased to announce that the Barton Hills Village Trustees and the Barton Hills Maintenance Corporation Directors have reached agreement over the status of our private roads. The title to the roads has been clarified so that it is clear that the BHMC is the sole owner of our private roads. The Village staff will continue to maintain the roads in their customary condition pursuant to a signed maintenance agreement between the Village and the BHMC. The Village staff will also continue to plow driveways for BHMC shareholders in the winter. To reflect this maintenance agreement, BHMC assessments will increase next year and Village taxes will decrease next year relative to what they would have been in the absence of this agreement. We thank all of the committed volunteers within our community who have contributed to this successful outcome.

Planning Commission Tuesday September 8, 2020 6:00 PM
The Planning Commission needs your input! Every five years, the Planning Commission reviews the BHV Master Plan. This review is a State of Michigan requirement. But the review is more important than that—the Master Plan is the umbrella document that guides land use decisions in the Village. If the Master Plan does not reflect the current thinking of residents, desirable land use decisions cannot be made.
This is where your voice is needed. The Planning Commission wants to know what you think about the vision outlined in the BHV Master Plan. The document is posted on the BHV website (under “Reports”), and is available from the Clerk’s Office. Please read it and offer your thoughts on how it could be improved. You can give your input at the September 8 Planning Commission meeting, via fax to 734-222-9177, or via email to bhvclerk@bartonhillsvillage.org. Thank you for assisting the Planning Commission in this important task!

The Board of Trustees meeting agenda is posted at Walter Esch Hall and on the website by the Friday prior to the meeting. All past meeting minutes are posted on the website, and available from the Clerk’s Office. Please note that meetings are no longer being recorded.
HALLOWEEN Due to the pandemic, the traditional Halloween pizza party and trolley ride cannot happen. The Recreation Committee is considering alternatives, such as a motorcade with parents driving their children on a route to participating homes where treats will be set out. Other suggestions would be appreciated. Please send your ideas to Recreation Chair Linda Benson at lindabenson22@gmail.com.
RESIDENT DIRECTORY UPDATE Contact the Clerk’s Office for information.
Have a safe and happy Labor Day!
