IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER (Reporting requirements not met for Barton Hills) Barton Hills Village complies with state standards for drinking water testing. We are required to report the results of your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not your drinking water meets health standards. While we collected our monthly total coliform sample on time, we did not report the results to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) by the May 10, 2020 deadline for the April 1 to April 30, 2020, compliance period. The results were sent to EGLE by US Postal Service, as we usually do, but were not delivered and were returned to us marked “undeliverable” nearly a month after we mailed them. This is a reporting violation only—the sample results were negative for bacteria and there was no impact on public health. We have returned to compliance and are working to make sure this does not happen again. Please share this information with all other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail. While there was never any question about the quality of the drinking water, you have a right to know what happened and that we have corrected this situation. If you have questions or concerns about drinking water, contact Supt. Hnatow at 734-368-7896 or bhvclerk@bartonhillsvillage.org.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION At the regular meeting held on July 13, 2020, the BHV Trustees adopted the following resolution by unanimous vote.
The Trustees of Barton Hills Village oppose any and all forms of racism.
We stand in unity with other communities in Michigan, in our country, and
globally, who recognize that racism has a long history that continues to
harm people of color and contributes to divisiveness.
We unequivocally condemn intolerance – that means racism, bigotry,
discrimination and any other form of named or unnamed hatred.
We strive to become a community that is welcoming to all residents,
property owners, and invitees, and one that encourages neighborly
interactions, specifically opposing any discriminatory or hostile behaviors.
BOAT STORAGE UPDATE Thank you boat owners for responding to the call to put BHV decals on your boats. We now have 100% compliance and have removed unidentified boats.
Please remember that we are guests of the Barton Boat Club (BBC) and must comply with their rules. BBC is a private organization that rents space from the Barton Hills Maintenance Corporation (BHMC). Membership in the BBC is open to BHV residents for a yearly fee (currently $355). However, Barton Hills residents who are current with BHMC assessments are eligible to store their canoes and kayaks at the Barton Boat Club area without joining BBC. All stored boats must display either a BHV or BBC decal.
If you are not a BBC member please do not try to access the boat club building. Please respect the BBC property by storing boats only on BHV racks (the BHV decal) or on the ground east of the boat racks.
The unidentified two kayaks and one canoe will be available to BHMC members (already 7 applicants). If you are interested in adding your name, please let Jan Esch know by August 12, 2020. Names will be drawn out of a hat to give them a good home.
Also, some Tom Sawyer-types attempted to build a raft, but left it incomplete in the grass by the west side of the club. If the wood pallets left behind aren’t claimed by August 14, 2020, we will dispose of them.
Thanks!
