TRASH PICK UP
Monday, November 30, is a fifth Monday so there will be a regular trash pick-up that day.

RECYCLING

Please continue to deposit only glass in the open recycling bin, and other
recyclables in the green bin or wire bins. Corrugated cardboard can be left just inside the salt
shed next to the bins where it will be dry if the weather is damp. Make sure all items are clean.

SNOW PLOWING

Please contact Jan at the Village office if you will be having a private
service plowing your driveway this winter. This information is essential to the BHV staff in
planning safe and effective snow removal. Private contractors need to know that snow needs to
be plowed going IN to driveways. It is illegal to plow snow into or on a roadway. Residents
are reminded not to place landscape items such as plants, rocks or light fixtures within 3 feet of
the driveway or road edges where the snow and/or the plows will damage them.

REMINDER: Crews and trucks are out starting at 5-6:00 a.m. to clear roads, which take
precedence over driveways. Driveways are cleared when an excess of three inches of snow has
fallen – starting with the steepest drives.

Residents are also encouraged to use environmentally friendly de-icing products to minimize
salt run off. Increased levels of salt and other de-icers is harmful to vegetation and aquatic life,
especially as it runs through storm drains and ditches into the river. Use as little as needed to
get the job done and remove visible de-icer from dry pavement that is no longer working and
will be washed away. Avoid de-icers all together by shoveling early and often, which is
healthier for both the environment and the shoveler.

PLANNING COMMISSION MEETINGT

The next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for December 8, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. If you
would like to virtually attend this meeting via Zoom, please call the office to receive log-in
information.
