The meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals was called to order by President Boddie at 6:00 PM at Walter Esch Hall.

 

ROLL CALL     Present:  Trustees Al-Awar, Benson, Boddie, Butterwick, MacKrell and Popp.  Absent: Trustees Langford, Smith and Torres.

Others attending:  Atty. Burns, ZA Perry, Supt. Hnatow, Asst. Treas. King, BHMC President Curtner and one project representative.

 

APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE     192 Barton Shore Drive

 

Project Presentation     (ZA Perry)  Variance was requested for construction of a second story addition to an existing garage.  The garage already encroaches into the side set back as a continuing nonconforming structure so the addition will also be in the side set back.

 

Public Hearing     The Public Hearing was convened at 6:02 PM.  No public comment was given.  The hearing was closed at 6:03 PM.

 

Discussion/Decision     The proposed artist’s studio is an acceptable use for this property.  Neighbors at 190 Barton Shore Drive and 196 Barton Shore Drive have been contacted beyond the required notice;  neither have any objections to the project.

 

Motion     Request for variance from Section 4.08 of the Barton Hills Village Zoning Ordinance to allow construction of a second story addition to the existing garage in the side set back at 192 Barton Shore Drive according to plans dated 1/3/18 was approved. (Butterwick/Benson/P)

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES     Minutes of the July 10, 2017 Zoning Board of Appeals meeting were approved as printed.  (Butterwick/Al-Awar/P)
