ANNUAL MEETINGS

The following meetings will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 beginning at 6:00 PM at Walter Esch Hall

Zoning Board of Appeals

Barton Hills Village Annual Meeting including Public Budget Hearing.

Barton Hills Maintenance Corporation Annual Meeting

Additional information about these meetings will be distributed soon.

25 MPH SPEED LIMIT     BHV is asking for help from our community to limit the speed of motor vehicles on our roads.  Please remind visitors, friends and hired help and lead by example in keeping speeds at or below 25 MPH.  BHV will be posting a few more speed limit signs in areas of need, and requesting similar help from Barton Hills Country Club as well as those entering on Village business.  We need to work together to keep our roads safe.  Thank you!

CORRUGATED CARDBOARD RECYCLING     Did you know…?
–BHV bales and sells corrugated cardboard to keep it out of the landfill.
–BHV pays Recycle Ann Arbor to empty the big green recycling bin every 3-4 weeks.
–Even though the green recycling bin sign says corrugated cardboard is accepted, we don’t want you to put corrugated cardboard in the green bin.
–Instead of putting corrugated cardboard in the green bin, you can leave it just inside the salt storage building (out of the rain).
–You can also put corrugated cardboard out next to your trash on regular trash collection days to be picked up by the BHV staff.

Questions:  Call Supt. Jeff Hnatow at 368-7896 or Asst. Supt. Dave Esch at 368-7884.
Thanks for helping BHV to recycle effectively and save money.

ZONING REMINDER     Project Review is required for all new construction, exterior alteration of existing structures, and landscape projects in Barton Hills Village.  This includes:

–fences and retaining walls greater than 18” high
–accessory buildings (garage, garden shed, gazebo, etc)
–excavation other than common household gardening/ground care
–playground equipment, stairways/patio enclosures, outdoor swimming/landscape pools
–exterior lighting, generators/AC equipment
–parking areas, solar/wind energy structures      , satellite antennas

Routine maintenance and repairs do not require review unless there will be a change in materials or structure. Significant changes in approved plans require a secondary review.
Only exterior construction requires review;  no BHV review for interior work although permits/review may be required from the Building Inspector at Ann Arbor Township.

No construction or cutting of trees for a construction project may commence until all approvals are completed.

Please ask!  You’d rather hear  “you don’t need approval for that “ J  than  “you needed to have that approved” L   Contact Jan Esch for questions or to begin the process for any project.

SEPTIC REMINDER     Please contact the BHV Clerk’s Office when making an appointment for septic pumping so a staff member can come at the same time to fill out necessary paperwork.  BHV Code Chapter 8 requires pumping at least every 4 years or more often as needed.

PLANNING COMMISSION 2018 MEETING DATES    Regular meetings of the BHV Planning Commission have been set for March 6, June 5, September 11 and December 4, 2018.
