SECURITY UPDATE     Thank you to those who responded to last month’s survey.  Arrangements are being made with the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department to provide a community presentation concerning home security as soon as an available date is determined.  Please continue to be watchful, keeping home and vehicle doors locked, picking up mail and packages promptly, and using alarms, lights and other safety measures.  If you need help or have significant concerns, call 911 first.  BHV Supt. Jeff Hnatow can be reached at 734-368-7896.  If you want the BHV staff to know when you are away, call Supt. Hnatow or the BHV office at 734-222-5209.

TREE TRIMMING   DTE continues their work of trimming trees that are close to wires, and have left a significant amount of wood that the BHV staff has been removing from roadsides.  If you are interested in the wood, contact Supt. Hnatow (734-368-7896) or the BHV office (734-222-5209; bhvclerk@bartonhillsvillage.org).  Residents are encouraged to check trees on their property and have hazardous trees trimmed/removed to reduce the dangers of injury, fire and property damage.

AUDIT     The BHV audit for fiscal year ending March 31, 2018 is available for public inspection at the BHV Clerk’s Office and on the BHV website under Reports.

SNOW PLOWING    While it varies with the type of storm, here’s the general routine for BHV municipal snow removal.
–Crew/trucks are out at 5:00 – 6:00 AM to clear the roads, which generally takes about 2 hours.  Roads are the first priority and will be kept reasonably clear throughout a storm, with hills, curves and intersections given the most attention.
–Driveways are cleared when 3 inches of snow have fallen, beginning with the steepest ones.  Residents with flatter driveways can usually get out until the plow truck arrives.  Clearing 130+ driveways takes about 8 hours.  Driveway plowing is a service offered by BHV, but it does come with limitations.  Residents are always free to make other arrangements with private providers to better suit their needs.  Please let Supt. Hnatow know if you do not need your driveway plowed.
–Note that Country Club Road beyond the BHV West Entrance is gravel and significantly crowned for water run off so it may be icy/hazardous when paved roads are bare.
