IN SYMPATHY     Deepest sympathies to the family of Reginald Baugh, a long time resident who passed away recently.

ELIZABETH LANGFORD     Elizabeth (Libby) Langford passed away recently at the age of 101.  Libby’s service to the Barton Hills community spanned 60 years.  Barely had she and husband Robert (Bob) moved into their new home on Oakdale Road when Libby volunteered for a committee in 1957.  She was elected to the BHMC Board of Directors in 1960, serving as Secretary until 1990.  In 1972 Libby was elected to the 5-person Boundary Commission, serving as Secretary of that group as they led the process of Barton Hills becoming a home-rule Village.  Libby was elected as the first President of BHV in 1973, a position she held until 1991.  In 1988 Libby was elected Ann Arbor Township Supervisor where she served until 2002.  Finally, she returned to the BHV Board as a Trustee from 2016-2018.  Bob and Libby were active members of Barton Hills Country Club and many other in Ann Arbor area organizations, including Libby’s alma mater University of Michigan.  Libby’s caring and enthusiastic leadership has built a lasting legacy for our community.

FUN IN THE SNOW?     While it might be too cold for making snow angels, it’s not too cold to have your septic tank pumped.  BHV ordinance requires residents to have their tanks pumped at least every four years.  Contact Traci Lloyd or Jan Esch at the Clerk’s Office when you’ve made an appointment with a pumper so a BHV crew member can come at the same time to fill out paperwork. They can also tell you when your last pumping was according to BHV records.

ECOLOGICAL BURN     The City of Ann Arbor’s Natural Area Preservation Controlled Ecological Burn Season runs from February 19 through May 29, 2021.  Controlled burns may be conducted in Argo, Bird Hills, Hilltop, and Kuebler Langford Nature Areas (across the Huron River from BHV) on weekdays between 11 AM and 7 PM.  For more information phone 734-794-6627 or go online to a2gov.org/NAPBurn
