TRASH COLLECTION REMINDER   Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday on Monday January 20th, regular trash collection will take place on Tuesday, January 21st.

Recycling will be done on Thursday January 23rd.

The Village Hall will also be closed on Monday January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

NEW TRASH/RECYCLE SCHEDULE   As a reminder the new trash schedule is every other week, with trash and recycle services occurring next week on the 21st for trash and the 23rd for recycle.

SNOW PLOWING     BHV is contracted by the BHMC to plow the snow from residents’ driveways under the following circumstances:

  • The snow event is over; and,
  • Roads within Village limits have been cleared and made safe for vehicles; and,
  • At least 3” or more of snow covering covers the majority of the resident’s driveway.

Once the roads are cleared and safe for vehicle use, Village staff will work as quickly as is safely possible to plow residents’ driveways.  We ask for your understanding and patience during these times.  The staff works very hard on snow removal, frequently without sleep for long stretches of time, and we appreciate residents’ courtesy and support.

If your driveway is impeded (downed trees, electrical wires, vehicles in the way, etc.), your driveway will not be plowed.  Once you’ve corrected the impediment, the Village crew will attempt to plow your drive on the next available workday.

If you find that the driveway plowing service is not aligned with your needs, we encourage you to hire a company that can better suit your situation.

DEER MANAGEMENT     Consent forms were emailed to all residents on December 17th. Please return your signed consent form for the Deer Management program as soon as possible.

You can either email the form to bhvclerk@bartonhillsvillage.org or drop it off at the Village Hall or Village mailbox.

ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY    This year the Barton Hills Village Activities Committee is organizing a BHV Resident Volunteer Day at Food Gatherers, located just a few minutes from our neighborhood, on Saturday February 22nd from 1-3 pm at their main warehouse located at 1 Carrot Way, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. Food Gatherers rescues several tons of food daily that volunteers help process, inspect and sort. In general, volunteers typically sort rescued foods such as produce, repackage bulk foods or get boxes with pre-selected items packed for distribution. A maximum of 20 volunteers are needed for our shift. If you have questions or are interested in signing up, please email Amy Pritchard at Amy.L.Pritchard@icloud.com. A waiver is required for all volunteers and minors. Thank you in advance for your interest and participation!
