The Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order by President Boddie at 6:00 PM at the Village Hall.
ROLL CALL Present: Trustees Benson, Boddie, Butterwick, Langford, MacKrell, Popp and Smith. Absent: Trustees Al-Awar and Torres (phone). Others attending: Supt. Esch, Asst. Treas. King, BHMC President Legacki (phone), BHMC Director Curtner and nine residents.
President Boddie stated that the purpose of the Special Meeting was to hear public comment and discussion regarding the proposal to create a special assessment district (SAD) for road maintenance.
Mr. Boddie reviewed the history of the topic to date, noting that both the Barton Hills Village Board of Trustees and the Barton Hills Maintenance Corporation Board of Directors support the proposal and that legal counsel for both boards have been consulted. An ordinance to facilitate the proposal will be considered by the BHV Board of Trustees at its February 13, 2017 regular meeting, with ample notification and communication to all BHV residents concerning the proposal and procedure. Mrs. MacKrell arrived.
PUBLIC HEARING President Boddie convened a public hearing at 6:06 PM.
Question: Will the assessments from BHMC change?
Response: No, the BHMC assessments will continue to be based on the shareholder-approved annual budgets for operating expenses. Since no road maintenance was included in previous budgets, no changes will be necessary for this proposal. Insurance coverage will be provided at no cost to BHMC. There being no further public comment, the public hearing was closed at 6:13 PM.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:14 PM. (Butterwick/MacKrell/P)
