The meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals was called to order by President Boddie at 6:02 PM at the Village Hall.

 

ROLL CALL     Present:  Trustees Benson, Boddie, Butterwick, Langford, MacKrell, Popp and Smith.  Absent: Trustees Al-Awar and Torres.

Others attending:  Atty. Burns, ZA Perry, Asst. Supt. Hnatow, Asst. Treas. King and one project representative.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES     Minutes of the December 12, 2016 Zoning Board of Appeals meeting were approved as printed.  (MacKrell/Butterwick/P)

 

APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE     33 Barton North Drive

 

Project Presentation     (ZA Perry)  Variance was requested for construction of a second story addition that will encroach about 7 feet into the 35 foot front set back.  The existing first story already encroaches about 15 feet into the front set back as a continuing nonconforming structure.

 

Public Hearing     The Public Hearing was convened at 6:03 PM.  No public comment was given.  Two neighbors expressed support prior to the meeting.  The hearing was closed at 6:04 PM.

 

Discussion/Decision     The front property line is not parallel to the road edge but curves in an unusual manner.

 

Motion     Request for variance from Section 4.08 of the Barton Hills Village Zoning Ordinance to allow construction of a second story addition in the front set back at 33 Barton North Drive according to plans dated 7/5/17 was approved. (Butterwick/MacKrell/P)
