The meeting of the Board of Zoning Appeals was called to order by President Boddie at 6:00 PM at the Village Hall.
ROLL CALL Present: Trustees Al-Awar, Benson, Boddie, Butterwick, Izenberg, Langford, MacKrell and Wilkes. Absent: Trustee Borel.
Others attending: ZPA Perry, Asst. Treasurer King, Supt. Esch, project representative, and five residents.
APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE-UPDATE 903 Oakdale Road
Mr. Perry referenced a letter from the Barton Hills Maintenance Corporation noting changes between the plans submitted to the BZA on 3/22/11 and subsequent plans dated 5/25/11. Mr. Perry commented on two changes:
1) The shape of the roof changed from a gable style to a square cut gambrel style. While it is larger, Mr. Perry’s assessment is that the roof is still within the scope of the variance.
2) The height increased, but is still within the maximum limit of the BHV Zoning Ordinance. Mr. Al-Awar arrived
The BZA was asked to consider whether the changes in the plans require further action and if the approved variances are still appropriate. The BZA members received copies of both sets of plans, the letter from BHMC dated 6/2/11 and a responding letter from the applicant dated 6/7/11.

Motion Regarding the contingency in the variance granted on April 11, 2011 to allow construction of lighted piers within the front and/or side setbacks at 903 Oakdale Road, (contingent on receipt of satisfactory revised drawings), the Barton Hills Village Board of Zoning Appeals determined that the pillars are acceptable as sited (staked) 22 feet from the edge of the pavement of Oakdale Road; further that the pillars are to be no more than 4 feet in height, and that a document will be provided by the applicant indicating the specific measurements of the front property line, pavement edge, applicable front and side setbacks and location of the pillars.
