ROAD PAVING     Road paving is scheduled for Monday June 20 and Tuesday June 21.  Areas to be paved are:

1) Country Club Road between Colliston Road and Spring Valley Road

2) Spring Valley Road between Country Club Road and Oakdale Road, and a smaller portion closer to Barton Shore Drive

3) Barton Shore Drive from address 239 to the Lower Entrance.

Please avoid these areas during the paving.  Thank you.

WATER CONSUMER CONFIDENCE REPORT     The annual Water Consumer Confidence Report for calendar year 2021 is attached to this Bulletin.  It includes important information on:

  • where your water comes from
  • what your water is tested/treated for
  • how the water system is maintained
  • how you as a resident can help to protect and conserve this essential resource.

Please contact the BHV Clerk’s Office if you have questions or comments about the report.

HOLIDAY FIREWORKS     Barton Hills Country Club will be holding their annual member Extravaganza with fireworks on Friday, June 24, 2022.  There will be abundant cars and pedestrians on the roads, especially after the fireworks, so please be especially careful.  Families with dogs and young children who might be upset by the noise should make appropriate arrangements.

TRASH COLLECTION CHANGE     Due to the Independence Day holiday, regular trash and household hazardous waste collection will take place on Tuesday July 5.

VACATION SCHEDULE     Office hours at the Village Hall may vary due to staff vacations. If no one is available at the office, call 734-222-5209 for contact information on the Village Hall phone message, or email bhvclerk@bartonhillsvillage.org.

SPRINKLER ALERT     Sprinklers running in the rain, or just after a significant rainfall, are not only wasteful of water but detrimental to the goal of having a healthy lawn.  If your irrigation system does not have a water sensor, please monitor it manually so it only runs when water is actually needed.  About 1” of water per week is recommended.  Want to know how much it has rained this week?  Check out the data from the Ann Arbor City rain gauge at Barton Pond.  Go to https://www3.a2gov.org/RainGauges/. Thanks for helping to conserve our water resources!

SEPTIC MAINTENANCE     BHV Code requires home septic tank pumping at least every four years.  Contact the Clerk’s office (734-222-5209; bhvclerk@bartonhillsvillage.org) to learn the most recent pumping date for your home.  Regular maintenance is essential to keep septic systems running smoothly and to avoid environmental contamination.

PROTECT OUR STORMDRAINS     BHV has a system of paved/natural ditches and storm drains along the sides of the roads to control water run off and prevent pollution/erosion.  Please take care that leaves, dirt, and debris don’t get pushed into these ditches and drains, where clogs will lead to flooding.  The BHV crew cleans these drains regularly, but your help is greatly appreciated to brush away leaves and sticks before the debris piles up.  This also helps in keeping the areas easily seen so people/cyclists/strollers don’t trip or fall over them.  Thanks!

UNCLAIMED WATERCRAFT     A seemingly orphaned watercraft at the Barton Boat Club has not been used in a long time and has no BHV ID sticker.  Contact the BHV Clerk’s office to describe/claim it if it belongs to you.  Thanks!

PLANNING COMMISSION     The regular meeting of the BHV Planning Commission originally scheduled for July 12, 2022 has been rescheduled to July 19, 2022.

NEXT DOOR NOTE     If you participate in the Next Door social media group, note that the fine print allows Next Door to send invitations to your neighbors on your behalf without telling you when they do it.

ICE CREAM FUN     Thanks to the Community Activities Committee for the fun ice cream social, enjoyed by a number of residents, their children and some four-footed furry friends.

CONGRATULATIONS TO 2022 GRADUATES!!
