Traffic Safety Update: Security Pilot Program

Over the past year, Barton Hills residents have shared thoughtful concerns about traffic safety, including speeding and pedestrian visibility. In response, the Barton Hills Village Board of Trustees and the Barton Hills Maintenance Corporation jointly commissioned a Traffic Safety Study to better understand how our roads are used and to help guide next steps.

The findings confirmed that our roads are actively shared by walkers, runners, cyclists, and drivers. These “multiuse” conditions, along with roadways that were not originally designed for today’s traffic patterns, make safety a shared responsibility and reinforce the importance of creating a road environment where residents feel comfortable walking, running, biking, and driving.

As part of this effort, Barton Hills Village will launch a seasonal Security Pilot Program beginning April 4.  The pilot will evaluate whether a consistent, visible presence can reinforce safe behavior and support the shared, respectful use of our roads throughout the day.
