TRUSTEES OF BARTON HILLS VILLAGE
October 14, 2019
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order by President Torres at 6:00 PM at Walter Esch Hall.
ROLL CALL Present: Trustees Benson, Hensinger, Popp, Saldana, Torres and Turner. Absent: Trustees Al-Awar, Butterwick and Smith.
Others attending: former Asst. Treas. King, new Asst. Treas. Kirkland, Supt. Hnatow, BHMC President Curtner, four residents and one guest
WALL PERMITS
525 Hillspur Road. The project was presented by applicant Andrew Roskamp and his architect Joseph Mosey. The public hearing was convened at 6:07 PM. No comments were received; the public hearing was closed at 6:08 PM. Following Board discussion, the permit to construct retaining walls at 525 Hillspur Road was approved. (Popp/Hensinger/P)
341 Corrie Road. The project was presented by applicants Karl and Azar Staffeld. The public hearing was convened at 6:13 PM. No comments were received; the public hearing was closed at 6:14 PM. Following Board discussion, the permit to construct a retaining wall to control erosion near the gazebo at 341 Corrie Road was approved. (Popp/Hensinger/P)
PUBLIC COMMENT None.
MINUTES Minutes of the September 9, 2019 Trustees meeting were approved as printed. (Benson/Popp/P)
FINANCE/FINANCE COMMITTEE New Assistant Treasurer Desiree Kirkland was welcomed. The Cash Disbursements for September 2019 were approved as printed (Aux. Book XII F(5)). (Torres/Popp/P) The Cash Balance reports for August and September were noted, as well as the September Budget to Actual report. Mrs. King was commended for her excellent work on the newly received 2018-19 audit.
STANDING REPORTS
Zoning Administrator (Perry) No report.
Planning Commission (Hensinger) At its recent meeting the Planning Commission approved the site plan review for the new home at 525 Hillspur Road.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Environmental (Saldana) The committee has obtained information from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources regarding application for an Urban Wildlife Management Permit. Steps in the process were discussed, and the committee expects to have a draft Deer Management Plan ready for Board consideration at the November Board meeting. Ms. Torres left/Mr. Turner assumed chair of the meeting
Recreation (Benson) The Fall Picnic was a wonderful success, with a record 71 people in attendance. There were lots of kids, games, food and conversation. Thanks to the staff for their great help. Plans are set for the Halloween event on October 31. The committee is considering the idea of a kids’ movie night for this winter.
Roads/Vehicles (Hnatow for Al-Awar) Work is well underway to repair the damage to the wall at the West Entrance. Road repairs, especially along Barton North Drive, are also scheduled for this fall.
Security (Hnatow for Butterwick) A list of items the Security Committee is working on was briefly discussed. An update/more discussion is expected at the November Board meeting.
Water (Popp) The committee received hoped-for response from a high-usage resident who phoned to express support for conservation efforts after receiving the recent water letter.
Human Resources (Torres) No report.
Long Range Planning (Turner) No report.
Zoning/Planning (Hensinger) No report.
