IMPORTANT WATER LETTER     The BHV Board of Trustees is sending an important letter about the community water system to every resident by US Postal Service mail.  Please watch your mailboxes and take the time to read this vital communication.

BHV FALL PICNIC
Attached to this Bulletin is the invitation for the Fall Picnic being held on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 4:00 PM.  There will be food and fun for all ages, so plan to join your neighbors on the Village Green.  Please note the RSVP information on the invitation.

TAX BILLING NOTICE    BHV residents received two tax billings in the mail, due to a correction that was made.  Please ignore the first notice and pay the lower amount stated in the second notice.  A change in the Headley legislation this year lowered the allowable millage rate from 12.0000 to 11.9905.

TRASH COLLECTION CHANGE     Due to the Labor Day holiday, trash will be collected on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 rather than Monday September 2.  Household hazardous waste items set next to the trash will also be picked up (only on the first trash collection day of each month, April through November).

PLANNING COMMISSION     The Barton Hills Village Planning Commission meeting scheduled for September 10, 2019 has been cancelled due to lack of agenda items.

COMING SOON     School buses will join the walkers, joggers, bicyclists, kids, slow drivers, pet walkers, lawn service vehicles, people getting their mail, low hanging branches, hidden driveways, speed tables and, of course, deer –all things that may be a surprise coming around that curve or over that rise.  Please observe speed limits and be ready for sudden stops on BHV’s beautiful, winding roads.

RECYCLING REMINDERS

  • Don’t put cardboard boxes in the green recycling bin.

DO put cardboard boxes in the doorway of the salt shed next to the green bin.
Cardboard can also be left next to your trash at home on regular pick-up days.

  • Don’t put dirty items in the green recycling bin or the wire bins

DO make sure all items are clean, with no residual food or liquids. Remove bottle caps.
Food and liquids contaminate the materials so they can’t be recycled.

  • Don’t leave household trash in the recycling area.

DO call Supt. Hnatow at 734-368-7896 for special trash pick up if necessary.

  • Don’t leave recycling items (paper/glass/cans/etc) with your regular trash.

DO bring your regular recycling items down to the green bin any time.

  • Don’t put household hazard waste items in your trash bags.

DO put these items next to your trash.  These items are picked up only on the first Monday of the month, April – November.
