After 8 years of employment with Barton Hills Village, including 5 years as Superintendent, Jeff Hnatow is retiring.  Please join your neighbors and the Village staff in expressing appreciation and best wishes to Jeff at the reception on June 12.  Jeff and his wife Sue will be moving as of July 1.  Jeff spent 32 years employed by Barton Hills Country Club before coming to BHV. He worked closely with Walter Esch before becoming
only the second Superintendent in the community’s history.

Celebrate the end of the school year.  Bring your cash to purchase sweet treats from the Ann Arbor Goodie Ice Cream Truck.  Younger residents will also be running a lemonade stand to raise money for accoutrements for the new community fairy garden.  Join the fun to kick off the summer!

The BHMC Board of Directors invites all residents to provide public comment on the transformation of the North 40 from agricultural fields to a natural preservation area designed to be enjoyed by the Barton Hills community.  Comment can be sent in writing prior to the meeting to contact@thebhmc.org, or comment in person via the Zoom connection.

M-14/BARTON DRIVE PUBLIC COMMENT     Wednesday June 8     11 AM – 2 PM
Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market  315 Detroit Street in Kerrytown, Ann Arbor City

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) invites the public to gain information and provide input on a study of the M-14/Barton Drive interchange. Through the study, MDOT will evaluate environmental and traffic safety issues as well as social impacts of improvements to the eastbound M-14/Barton Drive on and off ramps.  Options being studied include closing the Barton Drive ramp, or extending the ramp for eastbound traffic exiting/entering M-14.  It is vital that BHV residents be involved and make their voices heard!

 

BHV ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING     Monday June 13     6:00 PM

The ZBA will hold public hearings on three applications for variance, all from Section 5.07(1) of the BHV Zoning Ordinance to place a structure in front of the front line of the house.

–180 Underdown Road – (play structure)
–192 Barton Shore Drive – (garden fence)
Public comment can be submitted in writing to the BHV Clerk prior to the meeting, or in person at the meeting, which will be held at Walter Esch Hall.  The public may also attend via Zoom.

BHV BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING     Monday June 13     after the ZBA meeting

 The Trustees will meet immediately following the ZBA meeting noticed above, at Walter Esch Hall.  The public may also attend via Zoom, using the same information listed above.

 

BHV ELECTION     Four seats on the BHV Board of Trustees are up for election this November.  Candidates for the four-year terms must be registered voters in Barton Hills Village, and must submit nominating petitions with the signatures of at least 20 but not more than 30 registered voters in Barton Hills Village.  The deadline to file the petitions is 4:00 PM, Tuesday July 26, 2022.  Filing early allows for addressing issues (such as some state candidates for Governor are facing).  Petitions are available at the Ann Arbor Township office, 3792 Pontiac Trail, Ann Arbor MI 48105; 734-663-3418.
