 RECYCLING CHANGES

Improvements are coming to the BHV Recycling Program starting on February 1, 2023.

–There will be 2 large green bins—one for plastics/glass, and the other for paper products.
This will ensure that the bins will have room for a longer period of time and be full when exchanged.
Please put only plastics/glass in the container marked for those items, and only paper products in the container marked for those items.

Do not put corrugated cardboard in the green bins (even if the sign on the side says it’s OK)

–Number 2 plastic jugs will go in the green bin for plastics, not in the wire enclosures.

–Corrugated cardboard must be clean and empty
.
Boxes at residents’ homes will not be picked up on regular trash days unless they are clean and empty.
No packing paper, no Styrofoam, no other recyclables, no food or other trash—clean and empty.

–It will take about 45 minutes to have the bin dumped/returned, so if the bin is missing, it will be back soon.

These changes address resident issues noted in the recent Recycling Survey.  They will help to make the BHV Recycling Program more efficient and more cost effective, if residents will do their part to follow these simple rules.  Thank you!

STATE WILD TURKEY COUNT
This month, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is conducting its annual wild turkey count and you can participate!  Wild turkeys are a conservation success story: a century ago, due to habitat destruction and over-hunting, there were none left in the State. In the 1950s, Michigan began transporting wild turkeys from PA, MS, and IA to re-establish flocks.  Since then, using revenue from hunting licenses and equipment purchases, our State’s wild turkey conservation program has been able to increase the population to ~200,000. TRASH DAY CHANGE     Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday January 16,  regular trash collection will be done on Tuesday January 17, 2023.
